Florian Goeschke

Florian Goeschke (*1975) is a composer and sound artist. He studied electroacoustic composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and Sound Studies at the University of Fine Arts Berlin. His artistic practice and interest ranges from site specific interventions to spatial compositions and (non)human music-making. He worked with the Flemish theater and music collectives CREW and Champs d’Action as part of the European research program dreamspaceproject.eu critically investigating 3D Audio for immersive media. His work has been shown internationally at Festivals and conferences such as Haus der Kulturen der Welt, club transmediale, Cultura Nova (NL), Concertgebouw Brugge (BE) and NIME 2020 Shanghai.

Based on ideas of New Materialism and Decolonialism, his current Phd project examines the possibilities of non-hierarchical post-digital instruments that provide permanently changeable relationships between machine, materiality and agency. A number of spatial instruments will be developed and their specific materiality and affordances for the collaboration with (non)-human players will be explored experimentally. The cultural technique of String Figure games serves as a methodological reference, suggesting an approach tomachine intra-action beyond the modernist concept of cybernetic control and regulation.
